Police Horse
Kolt is a 25 year old Arabian/Quarter horse cross. He began is law enforcement career in April of 2007 when he passed his state certification and became part of the Stark County Sheriff’s Office Posse. He now serves the Alliance Police Department under the handling of Ptl Lydia Hart.
He served 15 months there before coming to Alliance.Kolt is trained to tackle various obstacles, maneuver in and out of vehicle and pedestrian traffic, move in formations with other horses or officers for crowd control, riot control, and extricating vehicles from crowds, and more.
Horses are great for work in crowds. They are easily seen and their size can be quite intimidating. Though they are big and aggressive enough to push a rowdy crowd, they are gentle enough for people to come up and pet them when they are on the job.
