Officers have begun the Cops in Shops program, which teams local alcohol retailers and police to halt underage persons from attempting to purchase alcohol. The Cops in Shops program places officers inside businesses, posing as store employees. Operation Last Call will continue with these programs, and in the coming months will include additional educational programs geared toward youth and parents. An educational seminar is planned for retailers to assist them in their efforts to prevent underage sales. Enforcement efforts will continue with joint details with other agencies and specialized patrols such the one conducted Saturday, as well as alcohol sales compliance checks. Operation Last Call is expected to last approx. five months, with some portions planned to continue indefinitely.
